How Online Writing Can Make You Slightly Famous 🤩 & Slightly Rich 🤑 (Free PDF)
Which beats 'completely unknown' and 'broke' any day of the week, right?
‘SLIGHTLY FAMOUS’ BEATS UNKNOWN ANY DAY
In 2017, I traveled solo for three weeks through the United Kingdom and France to clear my head after the 2016 election cycle.
My candidate didn’t win, and I didn’t want to be in the country when the new President was sworn in.
I was a week away from flying back to San Francisco when I received a surprise DM from Liam, a former online student, asking me when I would return to London from Paris.
I posted about each stage of my travels on Instagram, and Liam was a follower. We exchanged DMs and agreed to meet for lunch at a tea shop he suggested near where I’d be spending my final two days in England’s capital city.
Long story short: We met at the London tea shop a few days later, enjoyed a nice leisurely lunch, and discussed the project he’d been working on. Before parting, we took a selfie together, and he paid me a kind compliment about my coaching around organizing his core offer.
I wasn’t awarded a gold star on Hollywood’s Walk of Fame, but a former student invited me to lunch 6,000 miles from home. How did it feel? Awesome! Like I’d been awarded the gold star anyway! 😊
But that’s not what being Slightly Famous is about.
BEING ‘SLIGHTLY FAMOUS’ IS BEING KNOWN FOR ONE THING
In Liam’s frame of reference, I was known for the organizational structure of an online business.
Lyle, a former Canadian client, framed my writing style as ‘quietly American,’ as opposed to the loud and annoying stereotype as international audiences commonly perceive us Yanks.
Trisha, an Aussie, pegged me as ‘a humorous writer’ and often mentioned it in her blog comments.
These days, my SLIGHTLY FAMOUS claim to fame is being known as “the guy who says, ‘STOP CHASING PAID SUBSCRIBERS!’
So, where does the ‘slightly rich’ part come in?
TO BE SLIGHTLY RICH, YOU MUST BECOME SLIGHTLY FAMOUS
Let’s face reality — you’ll never be even slightly rich writing for folks who pay you $8/month.
“But I don’t care about being rich, Baz. I want to make meaningful impact!”
(Uh-huh. And I’ve got a big orange bridge for sale in San Francisco.🙄)
BEING SLIGHTLY RICH = NEVER WORRYING ABOUT MONEY
It doesn’t mean you’re filthy rich; it means you can’t be laid off, fired, or experience an emergency and NOT go broke because of it.
It means you’re prepared and have more than one source of revenue. So, while you’re perfecting writing for your tribe of Private Jet Flyers, you will need immediate and ongoing cash flow.

HERE’S WHAT WORKED FOR ME - DFY
I offered readers a low-barrier/low-cost problem-solving service…where I did all the work for them (ghostwriting, community management, graphic thumbnails, etc.).
Like the services I mentioned above, a Done-For-You (DFY) service generated immediate cash and helped my new customers solve problems and move forward simultaneously.
Now, my mama didn’t raise no fool… 😉 and I know enough about business to know that customers who buy from me once… are more likely to buy from me again.
The DFY service is only the first step, but if you skip it, you’ll likely never reach $5,000 / $7,000 / $10,000 / $20,000 per month.
The DFY service is your first subscriber conversion. Then, over time, you’ll convert your customer into a client. If you like, I can help you accomplish all of it.
SUBSCRIBING TO ‘PAGES TO PROFITS’ IS YOUR FIRST STEP TOWARD…
