Clients are ready to buy; Subscribers are prepared to read.

Are you chasing subscribers or clients?

Attracting paying subscribers is awesome and the backbone of your Substack. However, chasing subscribers shouldn’t be your first priority.

If your priority is to create cash flow and generate real income—apart from the trickle of paid subs—I suggest focusing your energy on acquiring clients instead.

Here’s how having paying clients benefits you even more than paid subscribers:

  • Clients generate instant and recurring cash flow

  • Client work builds your credibility on Substack

  • Client work leads to testimonials that boost your recommendations and subscribers

  • While a $40 annual subscriber generates $3.33/month, a client can quickly generate $1,000 or more in a month

I’d like to help you develop alternative revenue streams

Why not make more money for the same writing you do for a trickle of paid subscriber earnings?

Subscribing to my $40/year PRO-LEVEL MEMBERSHIP IS still essential since it allows me to send you ALL the information I can find on making better money on Substack -- free and paywalled— that you shouldn’t miss.

Are we compatible?

I'm asking because when you subscribe to Tiny Tribes, I assume some facts about you:

  1. You have ambitions to build a full-time business using the power of writing to get customers. Tiny Tribes isn’t for hobbyists.

  2. You love creating content that has an impact. You're here to make money, just like me.

  3. You’d like some direction and clarity. You're willing to do the work.

  4. You care about the craft. You know marketing and sales are essential.

  5. You're all in on the idea of making money online. I'm not interested in convincing people that writing and online business are cheat codes to your ideal lifestyle.

Does it sound like we’re of a similar mindset?

If so, AWESOME! We’ll go far together.

  • If not, no harm. Please don’t subscribe; I don’t want to waste your time.

How I Got Here

I used to be a doctor. Yes, I am a retired doctor, with the wrinkles and gray hair to prove it, but I was always a writer.

I knew I was a writer when I was nine years old, but I ran from the idea. I was told, "Go to college, get a good job." So, I did.

But it didn't last. I loved being a doctor, but after practicing for a few years, I wanted to do something else.

I went from operating on humans to teaching them in the university setting. I lectured on topics I knew well, such as anatomy and physiology, cell biology, and medical office procedures.

Colleges were thrilled to have me. Then, they recruited me to be in administration as a Dean. One of my responsibilities was writing accreditation studies (think: thick, multi-volume b-o-r-i-n-g documents in umpteen binders).

Teaching was much more fun, but I learned greatly from managing and writing these internal studies. From there, I started blogging, copywriting, and making money online by teaching other copywriters about marketing their businesses.

It seems I can't stop teaching... 🤷🏼‍♂️

Fast forward to today

Now, I'm officially 'retired,' whatever that means, but I run my own business online, teach others like you what I know, and help them make money online, too.

My insights here on Tiny Tribes are a good fit for:

  • Writers who want to build full-time businesses and possibly quit their current job

  • Coaches and consultants who wish to use content to land clients

  • Freelancers and agency owners who want to get more customers

This newsletter is for people who want to use writing to build a business that provides them with a healthy income. I’ll give tips to help you quickly make cold, hard cash.

We'll talk soon,

~Baz
